Robot Data Collection Operator

San Francisco, CAIn personPart-time, Hourly

At General Intelligence, we're building the next generation of general-purpose robots capable of operating across a wide range of real-world environments. Over the past year, we've assembled a world-class team, developed our robotics platform, and built the infrastructure needed to train large-scale robot foundation models. We're now looking for hands-on, detail-oriented people to help create the high-quality robot interaction data that powers the next generation of embodied AI.

As an in-house Robot Data Collection Operator, you won't simply collect data — you'll create the experiences that teach our humanoid robots how to perceive, reason, and manipulate objects in complex, real-world settings. Using our custom hardware and teleoperation systems, you'll record high-quality demonstrations that become the training foundation for our robot models.

You'll also work closely with our robotics engineers: validating new tasks, evaluating hardware prototypes, and testing software before it rolls out to our broader data collection operations. This is an on-site role in San Francisco for people who enjoy hands-on work and want to directly shape the development of cutting-edge embodied AI.

What you'll do

  • Record teleoperated demonstrations using our custom hardware platforms.
  • Perform manipulation, mobility, and whole-body interaction tasks across diverse real-world scenarios.
  • Follow detailed task procedures to ensure consistently high-quality robot training data.
  • Evaluate new robot behaviors, hardware revisions, and software updates.
  • Pilot new data collection protocols before broader deployment.
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback to continuously improve data quality.
  • Clearly communicate observations, bugs, and edge cases to the engineering team.

What you'll bring

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and kinesthetic intelligence.
  • Reliability and consistency in executing repetitive workflows — while maintaining high quality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and incorporate feedback.
  • Curiosity about robotics, artificial intelligence, and embodied learning.
  • Strong communication skills, integrity, and professionalism.
  • A solid work ethic.
  • Ability to successfully complete a standard background check as part of onboarding.

Compensation & schedule

  • $36 per hour.
  • Part-time, on-site in San Francisco, CA.
  • Opportunities to build additional robotics, teleoperation, and data collection skillsets as the team grows.

Why join

You'll get hands-on experience with state-of-the-art humanoid robots, make a direct contribution to frontier robotics research and development, and gain exposure to cutting-edge teleoperation, robot learning, and embodied AI systems.

At General Intelligence, we're building technology shaped by curious, driven, and diverse people. We're committed to creating an inclusive workplace and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Even if you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. Research shows that many talented candidates — particularly women and members of underrepresented groups — hesitate to apply unless they meet every qualification. We don't want that to keep exceptional people from joining our team.
